Rebuilding After Hurricane Michael – Spotlight on Panama City, FL

With the recent upgrade of Hurricane Michael from a Category 4 hurricane to Category 5 by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)’s National Hurricane Center, we are reminded of the devastating effects of this storm. Earlier this week, Mayor Greg Brudnicki of Panama City, FL spoke about the City’s recovery from Hurricane Michael, discussing some of the City’s tremendous progress since the storm, as well as the major challenges in their recovery efforts. Please see the video below in which Mayor Brudnicki talks about the key impacts and magnitude of damage from the storm on their local community, as well as some of the efforts and progress toward long-term recovery today.

Hagerty Consulting is humbled to be part of the City’s recovery efforts, working side-by-side with the City and various stakeholders on a daily basis. But as Mayor Brudnicki said, “there’s still a lot of work to be done.”  As we approach 2019 Atlantic Hurricane season, beginning June 1, we should not forget about the communities impacted by past storms and their long road to rebuilding and recovering.
