Hagerty Organizes Fundraisers to Benefit Louisiana Flooding Victims

Stand Together in the Face of Devastation

It is in times like these, when images of a community torn apart by a natural disaster are shared across the world, that we are reminded how important it is to stand together in the face of such devastation.

Knowing firsthand how enormous of a recovery with which Louisiana is faced, Hagerty has put together a food drive and fundraiser to contribute to the communities of Southeastern Louisiana. Hagerty employees in the Evanston office have reached out to the community, and as a result are kicking off a weeklong food drive, beginning with a Potbelly Sandwich Shop fundraising event here in Evanston from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31.

Potbelly will donate 25% of the profits made during the time to the flood recovery efforts, and Steve Hagerty, our founder and president, will match that donation as well as any donations made at the door. All proceeds will be given directly to Disaster Aid USA, an aid agency currently on the ground in Louisiana supporting recovery efforts.

But efforts will not end there. For seven days following, Rotary International and Inclusion Solutions will provide central locations for people to bring their canned goods. Sponsored by the Evanston-Lighthouse chapter of the Rotary Club, any goods collected will benefit the Evanston Corps Community Center of Salvation Army to support the needs of this community. Additionally, Hagerty Consulting and Hoopla Communications will partner to donate $1 to the Baton Rouge Food Bank for each can donated.

The Baton Rouge Food Bank was directly impacted by the flooding and lost a devastating amount of supplies in the disaster. In spite of that, they continue to support the community’s recovery. We are hopeful that the funds that we contribute will go a long way towards feeding hungry mouths, as the Food Bank is able to provide four meals for every dollar donated. Drop off locations include:

  • Lobby of Rotary International – 1560 Sherman Ave, Evanston
  • Inclusion Solutions (west side palette drop of Evanston WestEnd) – 2000 Greenleaf Street, Evanston

The food drive will end on September 7, when the Hagerty staff will collect the goods and give them to our neighbors in need at the Evanston Corps Community Center.

During this week and beyond, our thoughts will be with our friends in the impacted areas of Louisiana. If you are in the area, please come out to join us at our Potbelly fundraiser and for the food drive. If you aren’t, then we encourage you to donate online to Disaster Aid USA anyway. Everything helps during disaster recovery, and we here at Hagerty want to support Louisiana in every way possible.
