After a disaster, once first responders have rescued the living and found and extricated the dead, the second wave of professionals come in to estimate the cost of repairing things like buildings, infrastructure, transportation systems and more. While this work doesn’t come close to search and rescue operations, conducting thorough damage assessments are an important and essential part of recovery.
Hagerty professionals have been to many disasters, natural and manmade, in all parts of the country. We understand how to grasp hold of a disaster of enormous scale and make it manageable. We have systems in place to come in to a new area, a fresh disaster, and put a team in place that can hit the ground running. We know how to conduct damage assessments because we’ve done it before. We did this after Hurricane Katrina and after Hurricane Sandy. Competent damage assessments take a big picture view without shying away from what you see in the window.
