Business Development & Strategy Manager

We are currently seeking a Business Development & Strategy Manager who will report directly to the Director, Marketing Strategy & Implementation.  This role can be located at our Washington, D.C. office or at our Evanston, IL headquarters.

In this role, you will lead the full scope of business and strategic development processes.  As a Business Development & Strategy Manager, you will interface closely with the business leaders of our respective divisions of Recovery and Preparedness and the functional leaders within the leadership team. The primary focus for this individual will be externally facing, helping to generate leads and represent Hagerty’s full platform of capabilities.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Generate new business and increase overall revenue for the firm, through cultivation of new business with potential clients and former clients, as well as through additional follow-on work with current clients.
  • Analyze existing markets and identify target services within specific geographic markets.
  • Proactively call on targets regarding Hagerty services across the various priority areas.
  • Develop effective proposals and pitch presentations; track results with prompt follow-up, measurement, and communication of outcomes.
  • Develop and cultivate industry relationships, external networks, and advocacy efforts supporting the strategic direction of the firm.
  • Work closely with the Director, Marketing Strategy & Implementation to provide analysis and recommendation on key business decisions impacting the overall business portfolio.
  • Manage the development of cross-selling, and other business development or marketing-related education programs for all clients.
  • Track and report on business development activity and new business wins.
  • Assist in the development and execution of client events and webinars.
  • Work with the Marketing Team to ensure regular updating and improvement of firm collateral, including marketing materials, website content, and social media.
  • This position requires the candidate to travel extensively, including overnight travel, to client sites and prospective client locations throughout the United States and its territories.

Candidates must be comfortable interacting directly with clients, senior managers, and executives. They should be prepared for an intense, challenging work environment and be experienced working in a team atmosphere, but also be able to deliver independently.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum, Bachelor’s degree; preferable Master’s degree
  • 10+ years of experience with business development, analytics, strategy, and/or sales
  • Excellent writing, verbal, and presentation communications skills
  • Ability to effectively integrate within the firm’s environment to increase the value delivered to our clients
  • Ability to adapt quickly and expand existing knowledge base by learning new disciplines and emerging markets in emergency management and disaster recovery space
  • Highly analytical and capable of managing data, conducting research and recognizing key themes for viable business outreach

MANAGING ASSOCIATE – PREPAREDNESS DIVISION

Hagerty Consulting, Inc., a professional services firm focused on helping clients prepare for and recover from disasters, seeks an exceptional professional to serve as its Preparedness Division’s Managing Associate.  This Managing Associate position will be based in Hagerty Consulting’s Washington, D.C. office. The candidate must be flexible to travel for extended (days) and/or repeated periods within the U.S. The candidate will report to the Director of Preparedness Programs and will work closely with a Senior Managing Associate embedded in our Washington, D.C. office.

The ideal candidate should have advanced knowledge and/or experience with the following:

  • Experience developing various types of emergency plans (e.g. EOPs, COOPs, ERPs, etc.) and conducting threat/risk analysis
  • Interpreting and applying federal preparedness guidance (e.g. FEMA Doctrine, CPG’s, policy)
  • Developing and delivering training programs (e.g. Tabletop, Functional and Full-Scale Exercises)
  • Providing leadership of the firm’s effort for resiliency of critical infrastructure, enhancement of sustainability, and increasing ecosystem services
  • Conducting business development, customer service, and maintaining client/professional relationships

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The candidate will participate in or lead project initiatives for federal, state and/or local clients related to emergency management and homeland security.  Work may include, but is not limited to: capabilities assessments, gap analyses, emergency operations and/or contingency plans, review and improvement of plans, documents, manuals, policies, procedures, training, and exercises. While diverse backgrounds will be considered, the candidate should have a working knowledge of federal emergency preparedness, response, and/or recovery programs preferably gained through field experience.  The candidate should have proven experience applying this knowledge in various project settings.The candidate should expect limited supervision and must be comfortable working with or managing teams, and interacting directly with Washington, D.C. department/agency government staff, clients, and teaming partners.

 EXPECTED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree (MPA, MPP preferred) and three (3) years’ experience in emergency management, homeland security, disaster resilience, information technology/cyber security, medicine and public health, and/or law enforcement
  • Understanding of disaster preparedness, response, mitigation and recovery phases of emergency management. Experience with application of these concepts in developing various types of emergency management deliverables
  • Working knowledge of the National Incident Management System (NIMS), the Incident Command System (ICS), the National Response Framework (NRF), National Disaster Recovery Framework (NDRF), Threat Hazard Identification Risk Assessment (THIRA), and other federal preparedness guidance documents and policies
  • Experience researching topic areas, and working on complex projects of various sizes, to include presenting deliverables to a project manager or client
  • Experience effectively working with or managing a team
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills to produce technically and programmatically sound deliverables with little oversight (writing sample is pre-requisite). Must have high proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products to self-produce materials
  • Ability to be calm and poised under pressure, effectively deliver multiple projects with overlapping timeframes, and remain focused when working under tight deadlines
  • Must be able to attain Secret Clearance

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE IN ADDITION TO ABOVE:

  • Experience managing projects of various sizes, to include developing a project plan, managing a team, creating and managing project budgets, and presenting deliverables to a client
  • Certifications such as Master Exercise Practioner (MEP), Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Emergency Manager (CEM), Business Continuity Planning Professional (BCPP), and/or Department of Homeland Security or other federal entity designation of training excellence
  • Experience developing and delivering training programs, to include experience developing and/or leading Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) – compliant exercises.

Community Development Block Grant Specialist

Hagerty Consulting, Inc., a professional services firm focused on helping clients prepare for and recover from disasters, seeks an exceptional professional to serve on its Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) Team.

We are seeking demonstrated leaders in managing HUD CDBG-DR and other HUD related federal housing and economic development programs.  Specifically, we are seeking locally-based consultants in the New Orleans, Louisiana, area with solid experience in the field that have prior experience on a CDBG-DR team.

The ideal candidate should have advanced knowledge and/or experience with the following:

  • Expertise with CDBG-DR and Section 108 loan guarantee program design, administration, implementation, and monitoring.
  • Demonstrated track record for providing technical assistance to CDBG grantees and sub-recipients related to financial management and procurement, environmental review, rehabilitation or reconstruction of both single-family and multi-family housing, infrastructure projects, federal labor standards, acquisition and relocation, fair housing, and non-discrimination.
  • Experience developing grantee and sub-recipient risk assessments and compliance monitoring strategies and guidebooks.
  • Experience conducting monitoring visits and writing monitoring reports, overseeing corrective actions, and coordinating HUD monitoring visits.
  • Experience in assessing internal controls and identifying improper payments – conduct program and budget analysis of CDBG-DR funded activities within various CDBG-DR funded agencies.
  • Proficient in the use of the Federal Disaster Recovery Grant Reporting (DRGR) system – initiating and monitoring CDBG activities and accomplishments, and completing the DRGR’s Quarterly Performance Report.
  • Develop and maintain databases containing agency programmatic and fiscal indicators for the CDBG-DR funds.

EXPECTED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors or Master’s Degree.
  • 3+ years of experience in federal grant reporting, financial analysis, budget planning and management, or a related field.
  • Advanced fiscal knowledge and skill that encompasses budget and program analysis, monitoring, expenditures, and grant reporting.
  • Must be local or intending to be onsite in the greater New Orleans, Louisiana area.

FEMA PUBLIC ASSISTANCE (PA) SPECIALISTS

Hagerty Consulting, Inc., is a comprehensive Homeland Security and Emergency Management firm that helps public and private sector clients prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters that is seeking qualified FEMA Public Assistance (PA) Specialists.

As prime contractor for NYC Hurricane Sandy Recovery, we need experienced PA Specialists for Category C – G Project Worksheet (PW) review to closeout. The candidates will be posted to a Queens Borough location.  This is an active, open position that needs to be filled quickly.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The PA Specialist will be responsible for:

  • Leading the collaborative development of: over 50 PW versions to incorporate additional damages, scope of work, and associated costs not previously identified; Hazard Mitigation Proposals; and section 428 Public Assistance Alternative Procedures (PAAP)
  • Coordinate the design teams, consultants, and Program Conformance Team in the development of repair and replacement projects for Hurricane Sandy damaged facilities
  • Review and quality control/quality assurance of all PW versions completed by FEMA including Form 90/91, special considerations, cost estimates, etc.

ABSOLUTE NEEDS:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 15 years’ experience in PA and/or construction management.
  • Outstanding previous work experience with the FEMA PA Program or long-term recovery.
  • Effectively balance multiple high-priority assignments and actively manage resource participation in the process.
  • Ability to take complex issues and independently link the “big picture” to tactical program components.
  • High knowledge of, and proficiency in, Microsoft Word and disaster financial management systems.

As a condition of receiving federal grants through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and other government agencies, specific mandated standards in financial management must be adhered to, such as preparing reports for Federal Government review, tracing funds, demonstrating internal control, and validating accountability for all property and other assets. Financial and Grant Management Consultants with past experience in government accounting are needed to perform financial audits as a condition of the grantee accepting/receiving/spending funds through the federal grant-making authority.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Coordinate, review, analyze, and provide direction for grant-funded programs and summarize financial data.
  • Audit and reconcile; assist in evaluating the fiscal administration of grant programs.
  • Perform extensive reviews of financial documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with contract terms and administrative requirements.
