How to Access and Administer the Emergency Rental Assistance Program

Due to financial strain from the ongoing impacts of COVID-19, millions of Americans are unable to pay their rent and/or utilities. In late December, the annual budget deal passed by Congress included a $25 billion Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) to ease the ongoing financial hardship.

Today, state and local governments across the country are now eligible to receive this “use it or lose it” funding. While the benefits of this program are vast, communities must adhere to strict eligibility, documentation, and compliance requirements. Moreover, extensive community outreach, engagement, and experienced implementation will be critical to success.

Hagerty partnered with the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) to provide tips for local governments as they consider potential ERAP options in their communities. You can find the full blog post on ICMA’s website here.
