Winter Storm URI: Austin-Travis County Releases After-Action Report

A weeklong, record-breaking February freeze led to crises of power, water, food, shelter, medical care, transportation, and emergency response throughout Texas this winter. Hagerty partnered with the City of Austin and Travis County to examine how they could be better prepared for the next disaster; ultimately, providing 132 recommendations to increase community resilience throughout Central Texas.

Hagerty’s Director of Resilience/ Project Executive, April Geruso, before the Austin City Council: “We shouldn’t wait for disaster to strike to effectively plan. Effectively planning takes time — months, years. That is going to be a measure of resilience in the City of Austin.”
