Deputy Director of Recovery
Ari Renoni

Mr. Ari Renoni, Deputy Director of Recovery, specializes in complex disaster recovery at the local and state levels. He brings 18 years of public sector experience, including 12 years helping clients navigate Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and other federal programs across 20 major disaster declarations.

Specifically, Ari has guided cities, counties, states, and private nonprofits (PNPs) through complex federal disaster recovery programs, leveraging law and policy in innovative and efficient ways. He takes pride in assisting disaster-affected clients in strategically layering and maximizing federal grants, while clearly communicating available resources to their communities. Beyond client work, Ari advises internal teams on recovery policy and works with firm leadership to oversee the Recovery Division’s goals, growth, operations, and staff.

Throughout his time at Hagerty, Ari was integral to large-scale disaster cost recovery engagements, including Hurricanes Sandy, Maria, Ida, and Helene; wildfires, inland flooding, and earthquakes; and the COVID-19 pandemic. In these efforts, he focuses on building specialized teams and securing innovative agreements to maximize eligible funding opportunities for our clients. Overall, Ari has supported clients in obtaining, managing, and retaining more than $20 billion in federal recovery funding.

Ari holds two graduate degrees from the Maxwell School of Citizenship & Public Affairs at Syracuse University: Master of Public Administration (MPA) and Master of Arts in International Relations. Prior to joining Hagerty, he worked in international development with the United Nations (UN) World Food Programme (WFP), UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and a US Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded nonprofit, in addition to living and teaching math in southern Africa.
