Hazard Mitigation Assistance

Following a major presidential disaster declaration, this program provides funding for projects and initiatives that reduce the risk of natural hazards. It is administered based on state priorities and aims to enhance resilience by funding a wide range of mitigation activities.

BRIC is a nationally competitive program that funds innovative, high-impact projects to build climate-adaptive infrastructure and enhance community resilience. This program empowers local governments to strengthen their capacities and prepare for future challenges.

This competitive program offers annual funding for projects and capability-building activities that reduce flood risks for buildings insured under the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).

This initiative provides post-disaster funding to accelerate flood resilience for NFIP-insured structures that have experienced Repetitive Loss, Severe Repetitive Loss, or Substantial Damage. FMA Swift Current supports acquisitions, elevations, retrofits, and other targeted mitigation projects to reduce future flood risks.

PDM provides direct Congressional appropriations for selected projects nationwide, supporting mitigation activities that reduce natural hazard risks to people, structures, and infrastructure.
