Amelia Muccio is an emergency management and public health professional with over 15 years of experience. She is highly credentialed, holding certifications as a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM), Certified Business Continuity Planner (CBCP), and Master Exercise Practitioner (MEP). Amelia has also completed the Homeland Security Exercise and Education Program (HSEEP).
Amelia served as the Team Lead for the New York Sandy Recovery Project 404/406 Hazard Mitigation programs, overseeing the submission of over $1 billion in projects for the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP). She also managed the 406-mitigation recovery effort for city agencies, with a portfolio valued at $2.2 billion.
She also worked as a Project Manager on various Hagerty contracts, supporting preparedness and recovery efforts for agencies such as Americares, the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and the State of Ohio Public Health Department.
Previously, Amelia worked as the Director of Emergency Management for the New Jersey Primary Care Association (NJPCA). In this role, she specialized in integrating community-based health centers into statewide planning and response efforts for bioterrorism and large-scale emergencies. Amelia managed the distribution of over $1 million in Tamiflu to Community Health Centers during the H1N1 pandemic. Additionally, she trained more than 5,000 healthcare professionals in Incident Command System (ICS), National Incident Management System (NIMS), National Response Framework (NRF), continuity of operations planning, novel pandemic influenza, infection control, personal protective equipment donning/doffing, fit-testing, and behavioral health awareness.
Earlier in her career, Amelia founded The Humanitarian Project, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to assisting victims of global disasters and crises. One specific effort, the Nambikkai Tsunami Relief Project, provided emergency assistance, disaster education, and employment opportunities to displaced individuals in Chennai, India.
Amelia holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Public Health from Rutgers College and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) in International Public and Non-Profit Management (Healthcare) from New York University.
