Facing Hurricane and Wildfire Seasons, FEMA Is Already Worn Out

Multiple response missions, combined with years of record disasters, have strained the agency — and scientists predict an unusually severe disaster season ahead. Now, the Atlantic Hurricane Season has officially arrived and FEMA will once again be called upon to respond.

Hagerty’s Executive Chairman and former FEMA Administrator, Brock Long, discussed the Agency’s competing response missions with the New York Times citing that while the Agency is under significant pressure, when called upon, the FEMA workforce will continue to rise to the occasion and do all they can to care for disaster survivors in their time of greatest need.
